THE SLERS STORY
The name SLERS is a combination of the names Shirley, Litlit, Earl, Ray, and Sharon, all of them are children of its founder, Fely Pelaez.
What started as a hobby turned out to be one of the biggest ham production companies. In 1969, Fely learned to prepare deliciously smoked country hams in her home in Del Monte, Bukidnon. That year family and friends bought her ham for Noche Buena. The ham became so popular, the hobby became a cottage industry and later a family corporation. HOW PORK CRACKLINGS ARE MADE
Pork cracklings or rind come from pork skins. Slers rehydrate these pork rinds in water and additional flavoring. Then, these are fried in pork fat at 210 degrees Celsius. Flavorings such as vinegar and pickles add to to the taste of these cracklings.
